Is there some place that has a list of wounded etc. - have the three hospitals put the lists up? I'm trying to get in touch with my father on his mobile and canNOT get through and I'm in another country halfway around the world. If anyone has any access to these lists and could put them online I'd be grateful for any information.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMy father is located in Mumbai and generally uses the Western line to commute home from work. I am trying to get in touch with him but am not able to get through.
Can anyone contact him on 9892900411 and ask him to call us back as soon as possible? If anyone establishes contact, please post it on this forum as well. Or alternately call me on my mobile number 00-44-77464-75077
Thanks a lot.

Hemant - I'm trying that number constantly and will post here whenever I touch base with him.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't get through on a cell phone, try text messaging. That often works when you can't reach someone on voice.
ReplyDeleteHemant... I just smsed the number you sent me. And got a delivery report. will post here when I get a reply.
ReplyDeleteGot a reply from your father saying that he will try and get in touch with you
ReplyDeleteHemant - i'll try and conference him on to you if/when I touch base.
ReplyDeletePhone lines in Mumbai are still working sporadically. So please don't panic. Leave comments here and everyone will try to help.
ReplyDeleteJust got through and managed to talk to my dad who's in Gujarat right now. According to his information all local communication lines have been shut down in the western region (I'm assuming its Maharashtra, Gujarat and other states)... only calls coming from outside India are being let through.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job guys. Hats off!
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteMy sister was able to establish contact with my father. He is fine, Thank God! He was safely back at home when the blasts happened.
He is also trying to contact us, but the phone lines are down. He has sent out an SMS saying that he is ok.
Thank you all for your support and help.
Here's praying that everyone finds that there near ones in Mumbai are alright. I know the "One Upstairs" is not going to listen to my prayers for 60 (maybe more?) people who are not going to reach home tonight. I pray for their family members to survive this time of grief.
Thanks again all of you.

ReplyDeleteI just spoke to your dad. He is safe and sound. Relax :)
Just backing up n's comment: phone lines are working - I just spoke to a couple of people in Bombay (I'm calling from Delhi). They're probably just busy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, text messages seem to be going through - though there's a bit of a delay.

Great job guys! Its during times like these that Mumbaikars really unite and help each other out.
@ Mahesh. The blast has not affected anyone who was not actually at the station. If no one in your family is expected to be travelling around 6:30pm, they'll all be fine.
ReplyDeleteWhat you guys are doing is awesome.
ReplyDeleteIs Hutch outgoing working for anyone? Mine has been down for three hours.
ReplyDelete@ DK Garg

ReplyDeleteOk. I'll wait.
Guys in India: Just a quick tip/suggestion. I have in the past sent SMS to people in India from my email account. The adress to send SMSs would be (cellnumber starting with 98) [at] (whatever domain that's associated with the particular provider in your area, airtelkk.net for Karnataka i think).
ReplyDeleteThe catch is that you need to know who the provider is for the particular cell number that you are trying to reach.
I have been outside india for sometime now and don't even know who the providers operating in Mumbai are. It would be awesome if someone can find this info (should not be much more than a handful) and post it here so people can directly send an sms to their kin in Mumbai.

ReplyDeleteAnantha,
ReplyDeleteTrue. For BPL Mobile, try the number @bplmobile.com
Yahoo messenger also allows for SMSes, but that seems to be down.
Kunjan, Got through to Bhavna. She's fine. Said that she's online and is trying to ping you. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteAnantha, Yazad,
ReplyDeleteJust to add to what you guys suggested, here are a list of the service providers - if indeed these are the domains, they might work: http://coai.in/network-serviceproviders.htm
Also, a list of the MSC codes is available at http://coai.in/MSC%20Codes.htm
Things seem to be fine where I am. Less than usual traffic and no commotion - so far.
Keep your fingers crossed!
@Anantha : 98xxxxxxxx@bplmobile.com is working..ILA
ReplyDeleteDhoomketu: Thanks a lot man! I am talking to her right now.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone is safe there. I really hope this situation doesnt spiral out of control.

ReplyDeleteMy sister in Mumbai couldn't get through to my mum in Borivili to tell her she was okay (phone lines jammed), so she called us in London and we were able to get through in a reverse sort of communication. I'm so shocked that I'm shaking. I just keep saying to myself - I could have been on one of those trains.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all.

Wow, the Rude Mumbai reaching out, way to go......
ReplyDeleteawesome job guys...
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I said it, the traffic situation changed slightly. Road is blocked on Annie Besant Road after Worli. We had to take a detour through a few inner lanes. Left Worli at 11:25 and reached Prabhadevi at 11:32. So not much pain.
ReplyDeleteSituation's worse from Shivaji Park onwards though. Good news is that traffic is moving, though slowly.
Thanks a lot guys. May god bless you all. Let me know if I could be of any help to you all. Once again really appreciate all the efforts.
