  105. From a Yahoo news page

Gunfire and explosions were heard from the Taj Mahal, the Oberoi and the Chabad facility.

"It seems that the terrorists commandeered a police vehicle which allowed them easy access to the area of the Chabad house," said a spokesman for the Lubavitch movement in New York, Rabbi Zalman Shmotkin.

Around 10:30 a.m., a woman, a child and an Indian cook were seen being led out of the building by police, said one witness.

The child was identified as Moshe Holtzberg, 2, the son of Rabbi Gavriel Noach Holtzberg, the main representative at Chabad house. The child was unharmed, but his clothes were soaked in blood.

Sandra Samuel,44, the cook who pulled the boy out the building, said she saw Rabbi Holzberg, his wife Rivka and two other unidentified guests lying on the floor, apparently "unconscious.

    Terrorists Trapped Russians in Oberoi
There are three Russians in Trident Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai, that was attacked by terrorists, RBC news agency reported citing Roman Vorobiev, the attaché of Russia’s Consulate General in Mumbai.
According to Vorobiev, Aeroflot’s two cabin attendants and Russia’s resident Alexander Pakhomov are still in their rooms at Trident Oberoi. “We are trying to evacuate them to the Consulate General, but Indian authorities don’t let them leave the rooms for safety reasons,” Vorobiev specified.

Officials of the Consulate General are near Taj Mahal and Trident. Their purpose is to find the location of other Russians that could have been in the hotels, when the terrorists attacked them.

So far, no victims amid the Russians have been reported. Nine Russians that Rosoboronexport sent to Mumbai have been evacuated from Taj Mahal and are currently in the Mumbai office of Russia’s permanent representation in India. Two tourists of Russia that sought help at the Consulate General are there as well. “Eight members of Aeroflot crew have been evacuated from Trident. They are in the Consulate General,” Vorobiev said.

According to local TV, some 10 to 12 militants control terror-struck Trident Oberoi; their hostages are roughly 100 hotel guests. A bomb is said to have exploded at the hotel.

  117. The photos of the hostages released are on Flickr.com - (search nariman house) they are fuzzy but it is unfortunately clear that Rabbi and Rivkah are not amongst them. The most accurate count of hostages released seems to be seven - that's what the Indian news is reporting.

US citizen Marilyn Ernsteen, who was with her husband Joseph, said they thought the gunfire was fireworks until hotel staff said they should lock themselves in their rooms and turn off the lights.

“I didn’t know what was going on. I was terrified,” she said.

Taking only her passport and purse, she and her husband, who are from Chicago, escaped from their fourth-floor room through smoky hallways and out a fire exit.

  166. Dear Friends I have not met yet,

Yesterday was the worst Thanksgiving Day in my life- until 11:45pm when a total stranger- Rajeshree called me from India to tell me that she had located my sister Stephanie Botvin and Brother-in-Law Adam at a yoga retreat far from Mumbai, where they must have left shortly before the violence happened.

Here is a big thank-you to Rajeshree and all of the people who helped a total stranger in my hour of need. I have learned four lessons from this whole mess: to value my children more (they were in Mumbai to set up a surrogacy baby), to always send an itinerary to family whenever I travel- (domestic or foreign). To take-up yoga, and to always trust in the kindness of strangers.

To all of you who are still looking for loved ones, please do not loose faith. And to all of you wonderful helpers out there, keep up your good work. It is such a huge support to the families.

    Namaste,
    Andrea Botvin Duchovnays

  175. I continue to pray for everyone of every faith from any nation. You are all, my brothers and sisters. May terror around our world be abated, and the souls of the lost be remembered. May all of the injured and all of the families who are suffering now, be swept up in the love and compassion sent from all of us around the world.

  183. Am worried for the 13 year boy reported in CNN's Matthew Chance' report. It said the boy lost his parents, uncle, and cousins. There was no news on if there is someone to care for him. Hope people like him are not neglected.

  184. Sangeetha, you'll need to get in touch with the Omani Embassy in Mumbai on 009122 284 4938 or 0091284 4877 as consular staff handled the injured nationals who are now back home in Oman.

  185. I think NDTV list is not current.

India Today list of deceased unfortunately looks to include Gaurav Jain, brother of Nivedita Jain who was looking for her brother and had found him injured in hospital.

    See India Today list

    http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&issueid=81&id=21326&Itemid=1&sectionid=4

You'll have to copy that to your browser because I can't make it a link. Sorry.

  186. Thank you all for your tireless efforts for my friends the Holtzbergs, of blessed memory, and for everyone you have been trying to track down.

My heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of each of those who have been brutally murdered in this senseless, barbaric attack.

And may all those wounded in this horrible ordeal be blessed with a complete and speedy recovery.

Let's work together to bring more light into the world with acts of goodness and kindness.

  189. I just want to express my sympathy to all of you who have been affected by this awful tragedy. I would also like to say to all of you who have tried so selflessly and tirelessly to help those in need, (who were complete strangers), that I admire you greatly for your courage and kindness.

  191. Are there any european people who like to organize a demonstration for tolerance and understanding to accentuate a position against that chaotic action of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and organisations that use weapons to reach their aim?

  192. From the hearland of America, our hearts go out to you and yours. Our most sincere sympathies. May it be that my God and your God(s) commune together and bring the punishments of hell on the perpetrators of this barbaric act.
